Hitting it Big
With early buzz thanks to the ‘Just Don’t Give A Fuck’ single’s independent
release, Eminem’s career was set for controversy from the start. After singing with Dr Dre’s aftermath record
label, his debut mainstream single was ‘My Name Is’, on which he introduced his offensively opinionated alter-ego
Slim Shady. From the very beginning, Em played up both disgust at mainstream pop stars like Britney and Christina, while flirting
with pop world by playing concerts on the MTV Awards and other Live shows.

In and Out of Court
From the very start of his career, Em has been no stranger to drama, While critics, other rappers and dissed family
members have spoken out against him in the press, Em has also seen more than his fair share of inside of a court court room,
after being sued for defamation by various people he insulted in his raps. Too top things off, he has been brought up on charges
for weapons charges and even investigated by the US Secret Seervice thanks to a rap in which Em memtioned he wouldn’t
mind seeing the president dead!

8 Mile
With no previous acting experience, there’s no way anyone could have predicted how great Em would be in the
lead role of the semi-autobiographical movie, 8 mile. Covering the struggles of wannabe rapper Jimmy Rabbit (Eminem) in working
class Detroit, 8 mile mimicked much of Em’s real life - the skanky girlfriend, the closs posse, the unstable mum - and
gave his fans a glimpse of how hard he must have worked to get into the real world. 8 mile was a commerial and crtical success,
and we all know why-it’s got that rare combination of a great story. Killer performances from the actors, and of course,
some amazing music. In fact, th lead song from 8 mile, ‘lose yourself’, won an Oscar for the best song in the
movie.

Fighting With Triumph The Insult Comic Dog at The MTV Awards
Defintley one of em’s craziest moments, his fight with Triumph The insult Comic Dog (a puppet) was certainly
the sillest of all his feuds. Triumph was well known for his habbit dissing famous people, but em didn’t see the funny
side when the puppet started hassing him at the MTV Awards in 2002. The two of then (remember one’s a puppet) came close
to biffo as Em knocked him out of the way. Now, of course the two have made up, with em writing “ass like that”
and singing it in the style of Triumph, and the puppet making a cameo apparence in the video, among a host of other puppets!

The Release of 'Stan'’
Before ‘Stan’, critics could still write Em as a lightweight, almost novelty rapper. Though he had
huge success with The Slim Shady LP, he was seen as a trouble making rapper whose songs had no artitic merit - there was even
talk of him being banned by many of the more conservating politicians in th US. Although it wasn’t the first single
from his marshall mathers LP, Stan was a massive worldwide hit that demonstrated once and for all Em’s incredible writing
and rapping talent. It also made a star out of UK pop star. Dido, whose song, ‘thank you’ was sampled in Stan.
Dido also co-starred in the video, which featured the actor Devon Sawa as a fanatical Eminem fan writing a series of crazy
letters to Eminem. It’s still a hugely powerful video and song!

Eminem The Flasher
Never one to hold back, Em has taken to responding to his critics over the years with more than words. The sight
of Em dropping his pants and flashing his big white butt during concerts and interviews has become so common that we’re
not even surprised when it happends anymore, and we don’t know if he’ll ever groe out of this habit of getting
nude!

The Birth of HailieJade
Eminem and his ex - wife, soon to be wife, again Kim Mathers had a chaotic relationship from the start, and
Kim even attempted suicide during their divorce proceedings and has been in and out of court thanks to bad behaviour and her
drug issues. A number of Em’s songs are about Kim, including the notorious ‘97 Bonnie and Clyde’, in which
Em writes about killing her off! Needless to say, Kim wasn’t too happy when she heard that song! On Christmas day, 1995,
Eminem’s daughter Hailie Jade was born. Hailie has made a hudge difference to Em’s life, and his song ’mockingbird’
and ‘Hailie’s song’ are about her. When Ja Rule made s reference to Hailie in his song ‘Loose Change‘,
protective dad Em totally freaked out and escalted he Ja’s feud, including having hailie do vocals on a tune called
“Doe Rae Me”. it is because of Hailie that that em has done his best to keep the realishionship ship between Kim
cilvil, and is probley the main reason why Kim and Em are back together.

D12 World
Some people lose their old friends when they get rich and famous. Not Eminem. In one of his collest moves by this awesome
rapper, Em has never forgotten his original rapper crew, D12. Em and his five homies - Bizarre, Kin Artis, Swift, Kuniva and
Proof - are called D12 because all six members have an alter ego. The band got together as a loose collective back in 1990,
and band members Proof and Bizarre enjoyed modest success with their rapping, it was Eminem who broke out from the group,
of course, but he agreed to formalise D12 as a band in 1999. They’ve now released two albums. Devils Night (with it’s
hit song ‘urple Hills’, and D12 World, which included the smash single ‘my band’. the guys even played
up the perception that that Em is the star of their group in the hilarious video for ‘my band’. the goup have
been through so much together, and their current fame and popularty dosent mean they have forgotten the hard times. A former
member of the crew, Bugs, died shortly before the band signed to Shady Records, but his last request that the talented rapper
Swift join the guys was fulfilled. All the members of d12 now have a Bugs tattoo in remembrance. So what have d12 been up
to? Well, Eminem hasn’t always had the time to tour with the others, so theyre been plaing club tours, including Austraila,
and unfortunately copping critcism cos their most famous member isn’t on tour!
Eminem Watch
Ok, so we know where Em has been, but where is he now? The rapper has been decidendly quiet lately. Especially since we’re
used to seeing him popping up so much in the press. Lately Eminem is unwell, and just left rehab, over his addiction to sleeping
pills. Well since all this em’s being laying low, but with Curtain call and Trick Trick’s new album Eminem’s
been in the studio a lot lately.
